During WWII, when many of professional baseball players were serving their country overseas, Phil Wrigley, the owner of the Chicago Cubs, organized a women’s professional softball league - a league that would evolve into the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League (on which the well known movie " A League of Their Own " was based ). This was the only women’s pro baseball league to ever exist in the USA. And catcher-shortstop-third baseman Pepper Paire Davis would become one of its biggest stars during her 10-year career, that included five championships seasons. On November 5, 1988 – Pepper and the women of the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League were inducted into Baseball’s Hall of Fame, located in Cooperstown, NY
